Saying no when you’re self-employed isn’t always easy
I have learned that it can be very difficult to say no when you’re self employed. Those days when I first started freelancing and work seemed little and far-between are still vivid in my mind and so when well-paid interesting work comes along, it’s hard to say no. However, it has to be done, otherwise you end up with the last two months I have experienced: operating on little sleep, ignoring friends and family, ignoring my blog and constant stress that deadlines won’t be met. It’s been a good exercise for me and one I don’t care to repeat any time soon. However, the end is near and I’m into the sprint finish.
July will start a new era of a balanced life with some exciting new work contracts, nights where I sleep for more than five hours, lots of time for family and friends, gardening, cycling, running, paddling, painting, blog posts and all the other things in life that give me pleasure. I can’t wait! And should any new work present itself, I will have to find the courage to say that wonderful little two-letter word, and trust that there will be other opportunities.
